While the thin plot varies little from its drug-related predecessors the lead characters stumble through the movie in a pot-induced haze Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle brings a fresher, funnier, smarter face to the bit with some new gags and brazen jabs. ![]() Here’s our box office report for the weekend of November 4th, 2011 featuring the performances of debut films ‘Tower Heist’ and ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ as well as updates on the rest of the box office top ten. ![]() ![]() The best compliment you can give the film is that it's a stoner comedy masterpiece, and it is. But along comes Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle to prove me wrong. Weekend Box Office Wrap Up: November 6th, 2011. After all if it weren't for the outstanding success of Harold and Kumar we wouldn't have stoner comedies like Seth MacFarlanes overly embraced "Ted" and David Gordon Green's Pineapple Express. But for me, I see it as easygoing, ridiculous, emotionally engaging fun with enough high and low brow moments to satisfy those who appreciate how good modern comedies can actually be if they bothered to try. That said as somebody who saw this equipped with nothing more than a small soft drink and a bag of popcorn I found enough laughs in it, I can only imagine how hilarious this must be if you're on weed simultaneously. My only criticism is that many film fans will go and watch "White Castle" with no plausible intention of being baked in the process. #Harold and kumar go to white castle netflix fullIt combines raunch, sweet overtones and witty dialogue chopped full of laughs held nicely together by energetic performances from the leads. However this one feature some extremely likable and refreshingly hilarious hero's who sideline the expected racial stereotype humour by giving them a witty and clever character twist, whilst understanding who it's audience is, and offering gross out, in your face laugh out loud humour. The "buddy" road movie chemistry of Harold and Kumar, single-handedly revived the stoner comedy genre at the turn of the millennium, however stoner comedies are a kind of comedy film featuring qualities that can range from gut busting and unique, to "Freddy Got Fingered". For promising social commentary but delivering little more than stoner hijinks and gratuitous nudity, Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay earns runner-up on our list.Original, unpretentious, funny and above all well written. In a particular egregious display of gratuitous nudity, the camera travels through the party as the pair and Raza discuss key plot points, lingering over the naked crotches of the female partygoers. It turns out that Raza has come up with his answer to topless parties: bottomless parties. One scene in particular lands the comedy firmly at number 2 on our list.Īfter escaping from their extremely brief captivity in Guantanamo Bay, Harold and Kumar find their way to Miami, where they crash their friend Raza's party. Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay's exploitative elements go beyond its attention-grabbing title. Instead, Harold and Kumar spend about five minutes of screen time trapped in the prison before they promptly escape, addressing none of the thorny social and moral issues around the prison and its detainees. The sequel's bold title promised to redress the horrific human rights violations occurring at the Guantanamo Bay via the comedy stylings of two chronically stoned slackers. Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo BayĪudiences loved the antics of stoner duo Harold and Kumar in their first feature film Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, so the pair decided to re-team for a cash-in sequel, 2008's Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.
